The river Mersey’s power to wash up waves of Trans-Atlantic musical inspiration has been well documented for over half a century. Liverpool’s boy-next-door approach has always brought a unique angle to America’s progressive pop sound. Developed by Rich Turvey (Blossoms, The Coral, Vistas) and Mike Halls (Clean Cut Kid) K I T is no exception to that rule.
Born to a musical family, his second cousin a member of influential 60s group The Yardbirds and his father spending weekend performing across local pubs and social clubs; K I T first picked up the guitar at the age of 14. Studying songwriting and performance at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, he channeled inspiration from the likes of Lauv, Troye Sivan and Jack Antonoff; immersing himself in the ever-expanding network of Liverpool writers and studios. K I T eventually arrived at a formula consisting of writer/producers Turvey and Halls in mid 2019.
